(For Use With) Boarding Action was first official used as part of a Uplight Campaign using the FED RPG second edition rule engine (what is now FSpaceRPG) in 1991.
TAASF Seeker was leaving the solar system on a mission to a far off system but diverted to a distress beacon near Pluto.
A small ship of unknown configuration is detected as a source of the distress signal which proves to be an old pre-contact Earth signal.
A group of Terragen Marines (the players) are sent to board the ship in a flitter subcraft. The board unopposed and find the ship abandoned, but clearly of human origin, but whose technology doesn't match any Earth or Galactic technology they recognise, but is understandable and easy to use for Terrans.
While investigating Seeker reports an incoming hostile galactic vessel and have to depart to set an appropriate confrontation to stop the galactic ship getting too close. However a smaller scout vessel gets through and docks with the ship the players are on.
The players need to conduct a firefight to defend their position, and can even board the Scout to repel the galactics.
TAASF Seeker returns and the marines will return to report their findings.
At this point, the strange human vessel vanishes in a hyperspatial vortex.
When this version was run, the galactics used were the Soro with Paha warriors being used in the boarding action.
As Steve Jackson Games published an official Uplift Supplement for use with GURPS, Boarding Action could be used with that game system.
